About

Realtor on the South Coast of Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Writer of essays on civic systems. Builder of one functioning genealogy archive.

I'm John Long. I run a real estate practice in Newport County, Rhode Island, and the South Coast of Massachusetts. The day-to-day work is helping people buy and sell homes. The underlying discipline is verification: title chains, contracts, disclosure, the physical-world infrastructure that makes property transfer possible.

In parallel, I write. The research papers on this site adapt thesis work from my MPA at Roger Williams University on public-private partnerships, and extend into a four-pillar framework (time, ground, voice, currency) that I'm using to map what's happening to the material preconditions of citizenship in this generation. The most recent applied notes (Acting in the Cracks and The Obvious Child) extend that framework into prescription and demonstration.

I also build. Zestigram, Inc. is a Rhode Island corporation I founded in 2014 that builds verification tools. The Long Family Archiveis the public proof-of-concept: a single family's documented lineage from medieval Devon to the present generation, with every parent-child link tagged for sourcing confidence. The Archive exists to prove the verification method works at one scale before extending it.

The site you're on is the integration layer. Real estate practice at johnlong.realestate. Writing here. The Archive as the working demonstration. Three modes of the same job: helping make truth easier to prove.

If you're here for the writing, start with The Periscope, ten minutes, explains what the body of work is doing. If you're here for consulting, the door is at zestigram.com. If you're here for real estate, johnlong.realestate.
